Two People, Two Chairs

 

Through our Two People Two Chairs program, The VOCAL CO-OP supports groups to develop peer-run, self-help projects. This program is based on the idea that "if you have two people, and two chairs, you can start a project". See more details on the Two People, Two Chairs program below.

2006 Projects

*       Book of Art and Creative Writing by Consumers, On Our Own of Roanoke Valley

*       Agoraphobia Education & Facilitator Trainings, ABIL

*       Support Group Outreach & Expenses in Richmond, Mental Wellness Support Group

*       Volunteer Program & Drop-In Center Activities, On Our Own of Charlottesville

*       Mental Health Video Series & Support Group in Harrisonburg, Journeys Support Group

*       Facilities Upgrade for Drop-In Center, Peninsula Drop-In Center

*       Public Seminars on Mental Health & Employment, Laurie Mitchell Employment Center

*       Developing Job Skills Training in Northern Virginia (Laurie Mitchell Employment Center)

*       Creating a free “thrift shop” at a Drop in Center (On Our Own Charlottesville)

*       Developing a Consumer-Run Group in Richmond (Richmond Mental Wellness Mentors)

*       Providing Computer and Internet Resources in Hampton (Peninsula Drop In Center)

*       Supporting a Mental Wellness Group in Richmond (Mental Wellness Support Group)

*       Creating a Bilingual, Disability-Accessible Warm Line in Reston (Reston Warmline)

*       Developing a Recovery Education Project in Chesapeake (People of Power)

*       Developing an Outreach and Membership Project in Harrisonburg (Journeys)

*       Creating a Recovery Speakers Bureau (Richmond Mental Wellness Mentors) 

*       Developing a new Consumer Recovery Education Program in Central VA (CVCRW)

*       Creating a Prototype for Agoraphobia Support Groups Statewide (ABIL)

About Two People, Two Chairs

Two People Two Chairs is a mini-grant program for grassroots, peer-run groups in Virginia. Two People Two Chairs supports self-help projects that are designed & run by mental health consumers. Awards were made possible thanks to generous support from the Office of Mental Health Services at Virginia DMHMRSAS.

To Apply: We do not currently have any further funding for Two People Two Chairs. Please do not write us to inquire about these grants, instead, join our email newsletter, and you will automatically be notified if we are able to run this program again in the future.
